Basketball Recap: Northwestern Falls Short of Maconaquah in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Northwestern can now relate to. They came up short against the Maconaquah Braves on Friday, falling 74-49. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-56 back in February.

Maconaquah got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josiah Ball out in front who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards. The match was Ball's eighth in a row with at least 17 points. AJ Kelly was another key player, going 9-for-13 to rack up 19 points and five steals.

Northwestern's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Maconaquah, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.

Northwestern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maconaquah, they and Logansport will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. One thing working in Maconaquah's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.
