Basketball Game Preview: Ashbrook Greenwave vs. Stuart W. Cramer Storm

Two dominant guards in Issac Byers Jr. and Gavin Jordan are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ashbrook Greenwave just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Stuart W. Cramer Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ashbrook has 13 straight victories, Stuart W. Cramer has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Thursday, Ashbrook earned a 73-60 win over Huss.

Meanwhile, Stuart W. Cramer played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 74-44 loss at the hands of Huss. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while the Huskies are ranked 62nd).

Ashbrook will need focus on slowing down Qualteau Hawkins, one of several Stuart W. Cramer players who made an impact when they last played. He posted eight points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Hawkins a new career-high in rebounds. Dj Cross was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Stuart W. Cramer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Ashbrook's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.9 points per game. As for Stuart W. Cramer, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Everything came up roses for Ashbrook against Stuart W. Cramer in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-39 win. Will Ashbrook repeat their success, or does Stuart W. Cramer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
