Football Game Preview: Lexington Senior Yellowjackets vs. West Stanly Colts

The Lexington Senior Yellowjackets will face off against the West Stanly Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lexington Senior has three straight victories, West Stanly has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lexington Senior will bounce into Friday's game after beating Ledford, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Yellowjackets walked away with a 29-17 win over the Panthers on Friday.

Among those leading the charge was Colin Weeks, who picked up 62 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in a pair of touchdowns on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Gary Vinson was another key player, rushing for 65 yards and one TD on only nine carries.

Lexington Senior didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Ledford to a completion percentage of just 20%. The Yellowjackets have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.59 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.59 in their last three games.

Meanwhile, West Stanly came up short against Mount Pleasant on Friday and fell 25-14. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Tigers are ranked 129th).

Lexington Senior will have to contain Dominik Danzy as he made an impact in West Stanly's last game. He picked up 157 receiving yards and one touchdown.

West Stanly's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lexington Senior, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
