Baseball Recap: Evans' Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Evans's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cocoa Tigers, sneaking past 11-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Zachary Reinert made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Reinert was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Evans got a massive performance out of Manuel Contreras, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs Contreras has posted since back in February. Tarrick Bridges was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.

Evans' win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-12. As for Cocoa, their defeat was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-19.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Evans will challenge Lake Minneola at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cocoa, they will take on Titusville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
