Basketball Game Preview: Cumby Trojans vs. Como-Pickton Eagles

The Cumby Trojans will face off against the Como-Pickton Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumby is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season.

Cumby will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Yantis, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. Cumby put the hurt on Yantis with a sharp 77-52 win on Friday. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 25 points or more this season.

Cumby's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chett Vaughan, who went 8 of 17 en route to 24 points and six boards. Vaughan's evening made it 29 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakari Johnson, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 17 points.

Cumby smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Como-Pickton was beaten by Cooper 52-17 on Friday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Cumby has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 45 points. As for Como-Pickton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-22.

Cumby strolled past Como-Pickton when the teams last played on January 3rd by a score of 68-49. Does Cumby have another victory up their sleeve, or will Como-Pickton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
