Pana hasn't had much luck against Staunton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will host the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Pana needed a bit of extra time to put away Litchfield. They had just enough and edged out the Purple Panthers 10-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Cash Lynch was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Parker Moore, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Staunton). They never let East Alton-Wood River get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Wednesday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Staunton got a massive performance out of Lucas Coalson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Ashton Rizzi was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Staunton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Pana now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Staunton, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.
Pana couldn't quite finish off Staunton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
