Baseball Game Preview: Grady Falcons vs. Brooklyn Prospect Hawks

The Grady Falcons will take on the Brooklyn Prospect Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Grady was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Erasmus Hall on Tuesday. The Falcons blew past the Dutchmen 15-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Alexander Vega was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Vega was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Grady is 2-1 when Vega posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Gabriel Gomez was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He also brought in four RBI, which is notable because Grady is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Marcello Faciano, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn Prospect put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over Sunset Park.

Brooklyn Prospect's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.6 runs over those games. As for Grady, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
