Taylor is on a nine-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Sheridan a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Taylor Titans will host the Sheridan Blackhawks at 5:30 p.m.
Taylor fell victim to Frankton and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 10-0.
Taylor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Boothby, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Boothby has hit this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sheridan). They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over Mooresville Christian on Thursday. The Blackhawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 13, 2024 (when they won 24-4).
Isaiah Garrett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sheridan got a massive performance out of Chance Spencer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Spencer is becoming a predictor of the Blackhawks' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jack Oland, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Sheridan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Sheridan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Taylor, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16.
Taylor couldn't quite get it done against Sheridan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
