It's playoff time, and University had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Jefferson Democrats 8-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Angel Huerta made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). He has become a key player for University: the team is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-14 otherwise. Huerta was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Carrillo, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Han, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win (which was University's fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-15. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, the loss snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 16-4 record.

As of now, neither University nor the Democrats have any future games scheduled.
