The Canyon Lake Hawks will challenge the Fredericksburg Billies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Fredericksburg will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Canyon Lake extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Hawks claimed a resounding 56-6 victory over John F. Kennedy. The Hawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Canyon Lake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Wheeler, who threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns while completing 93.3% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Wheeler a new career-high in passer rating (171.5). Another player making a difference was Gram Simpson, who rushed for 52 yards and three TDs.
Canyon Lake was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, while Fredericksburg put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for Uvalde. The Billies simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) 31-0.
Fredericksburg's win came from a few key players Canyon Lake will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kress Mohr, who threw for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 52 yards and one score. Aaron Cantu was another key rusher, rushing for 122 yards and one TD on only 15 carries.
Fredericksburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Yair Hernandez, Asher Burdett, and Davis Frantzen picked up one apiece. Hernandez is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.
Fredericksburg's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Canyon Lake, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Canyon Lake has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 286.2 passing yards per game.
