Volleyball Recap: Lee Park Prep Comes Up Short

If Lee Park Prep was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of The Fletcher School last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Statesville Christian Lions on Thursday.

Lee Park Prep started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-10, 25-10, 25-21.

Emma Shulenberger paced Lee Park Prep's offense, picking up 12 kills. Shulenberger got some help from Baylor Currie and her 12 assists. Morgan Swann controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Statesville Christian was led to victory by Jenna Simon and Abbey Wright. Simon had seven digs and six aces, while Wright had 20 digs and three assists. Those 20 digs gave Wright a new career-high.

Lee Park Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Statesville Christian, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Lee Park Prep has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Gray Stone Day on the 19th. As for Statesville Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Salem Christian School on the 19th.
