Preview: McCollum Cowboys vs. Winn Mavericks
McCollum is 9-1 against Winn since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The McCollum Cowboys will look to defend their home court against the Winn Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
McCollum's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwest Legacy.
Winn suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Southwest, falling 99-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (66), Winn still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was David Rodriguez, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assist. Another player making a difference was Jovan Jimenez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
McCollum's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Winn, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-15.
McCollum didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Winn in their previous meeting on January 2nd, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win. Does McCollum have another victory up their sleeve, or will Winn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
