Baseball Recap: Minico Triumphs

Minico gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Pocatello Thunder. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Thunder recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Kam Rutschke, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Minico is undefeated when Rutschke posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

The victory got Minico back to even at 6-6. As for Pocatello, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minico will welcome Wood River at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Spartans their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Pocatello, they will be playing at home against Rigby at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Trojans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
