Volleyball Recap: Avon Wins Going Away Against Scotland

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wagner, Avon was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Scotland Highlanders with a sharp 3-0 win. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Avon took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-11, 25-14.

Rilyn Thury paced Avon's offense, picking up 14 kills. Thury got some help from Brielle Voigt and her 33 assists.

Avon now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Scotland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

The future could be bright for both Avon and Scotland: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Pirates will look to extend Irene/Wakonda's three-game losing streak when they meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Scotland will try to hand Freeman their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
