Football Game Preview: Paetow Panthers vs. Morton Ranch Mavericks + How To Watch

The Paetow Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Morton Ranch Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Paetow knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Morton Ranch likes a good challenge.

Paetow blew Mayde Creek out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Mayde Creek got their revenge. The Panthers fell just short of the Rams by a score of 36-34.

Despite the defeat, Paetow got top-tier performance from Jovan Rodriguez, who rushed for 251 yards and two scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Rodriguez is now averaging an impressive 126.8 rushing yards per game. Derek Stevenson was another key player, picking up 84 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Morton Ranch played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Jordan, falling 56-13. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 465th, while the Warriors are ranked 152nd).

Morton Ranch now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Paetow, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Paetow against Morton Ranch in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
