Marathon and Riviera Prep are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Marathon Dolphins will face off against the Riviera Prep Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marathon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Marathon made easy work of Glades Day and carried off a 13-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dolphins.

Dylan Williams was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Bryan Broche was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Leo Mendez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Marathon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Riviera Prep came up short against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) on Thursday, falling 12-1. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Stallions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.
Riviera Prep saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Fonte, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Marathon now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Riviera Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Marathon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Riviera Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Marathon took their win against Riviera Prep in their previous matchup last Friday by a conclusive 11-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marathon since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
