Baseball Recap: Henley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mazama

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Henley). They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Mazama Vikings on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Beau Pyle made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Pyle was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mark Carpenter was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Henley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Siems, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Henley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in ten consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Henley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Mazama, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Henley will be playing at home against Hidden Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mazama, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakeview at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
