Volleyball Recap: Hannibal Pirates vs. Westminster Christian Wildcats
After flying high against Kirksville on Thursday, Hannibal came back down to earth. The Pirates took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westminster Christian Wildcats on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
Lyla Dorsey paced Hannibal's offense, picking up seven kills. Dorsey got some help from Aly Falconer and her 12 assists. Finally, Ryann Borden kept Hannibal's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Westminster Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rachel Buchanan out in front who had four digs and two aces.
Hannibal's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2-1. As for Westminster Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season.
Hannibal didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against North Point on the 27th. As for Westminster Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Liberty on the 27th.
