Recap: Clark Chargers vs. La Quinta Blackhawks

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Clark Chargers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They snuck past La Quinta with a 48-42 win. Given Clark's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 27th in Nevada, while La Quinta is ranked 761st in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clark's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ariana Brown led the charge by dropping a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. Those 28 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Trinity Tavita, who scored nine points along with 21 rebounds and six blocks.

Despite the loss, La Quinta still got an impressive performance from Audrey Tijerina, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Sophie Barrow was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, La Quinta were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Clark is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for La Quinta, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Clark won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Indio at 12:00 p.m. on December 29th. Indio comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. La Quinta won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Coachella Valley at 10:30 a.m. on December 29th.
