Basketball Recap: Marshall County Takes a Loss

Marshall County lost against Lawrence County back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Marshall County Tigers took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lawrence County Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Wildcats are ranked 89th).

Despite the loss, Marshall County still got an impressive performance from Mashawna Ridley, who posted 18 points. Ridley continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Marshall County's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Lawrence County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Coming up, Marshall County will challenge Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin County will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Marshall County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lawrence County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
