Basketball Recap: Conneaut Comes Up Short

Conneaut lost against Pymatuning Valley back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Conneaut Spartans fell 58-47 to the Pymatuning Valley Lakers.

It was another big night for Zoey Painter, who posted 25 points and five boards for Pymatuning Valley. Painter's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mae Struna, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Conneaut has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Pymatuning Valley, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Conneaut and Pymatuning Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Conneaut (ranked 649th) will meet Perry (ranked 223rd) at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Pymatuning Valley will challenge Maplewood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday down 221 places (441 vs. 220).
