If Wellsboro was riding high fresh off their 37-15 takedown of Cowanesque Valley last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets fell 35-22 to the Athens Wildcats on Friday. The Hornets' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Wellsboro still got an impressive performance from Marek Mascho, who picked up 140 receiving yards and one TD, and also threw for 49 yards and one touchdown.

Karson Sipley was nothing short of spectacular for Athens: he rushed for 116 yards and four scores.

Wellsboro's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Athens, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Wellsboro will head out to face off against Troy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
