Baseball Recap: Seminole Takes a Loss

After flying high against El Dorado on Friday, Seminole came back down to earth. The Seminole Indians fell 4-1 to the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates on Friday.

Rowin Donaldson and Obed Reyes were huge no matter where they played even without the win. On the mound, Donaldson struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Reyes tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Donaldson has posted since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Donaldson scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Reyes went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaycen Robledo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Seminole has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-4 record this season. The win was the third in a row for Lubbock-Cooper, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.

Seminole and Lubbock-Cooper should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Seminole (ranked 41st) will meet Plainview (ranked 465th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Seminole 2.1, Lubbock-Cooper 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Lubbock-Cooper will face off against Clint at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday up 492 places (118 vs. 610). Seminole is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
