Tupelo is a perfect 7-0 against DeSoto Central since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Golden Wave will take on the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tupelo is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Lewisburg: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Golden Wave blew the Patriots out of the water with a 49-0 final score. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Wave sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Tupelo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaeden Hill, who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hill's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Tupelo also got a significant boost from Jaqelas Wharton, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tupelo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 350 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when DeSoto Central challenged Hernando on Thursday. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 42-21 margin over the Tigers. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Tupelo better keep an eye on Cade Rodgers. He was instrumental in DeSoto Central's win, rushing for 210 yards and three scores, while also picking up 41 receiving yards and one TD. Rodgers has become a key player for the Jaguars: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eric Perry, who threw for 247 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes.
Tupelo's record now sits at 9-1. As for DeSoto Central, their record is now 7-3.
Thursday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Kylan Bobo and Rodgers. Bobo just won't slow down this season and has run in 21 touchdowns while averaging 130.4 rushing yards per game. Rodgers has been a dominant force too and has run in 15 touchdowns while averaging 189.5 rushing yards per game.
Everything went Tupelo's way against DeSoto Central in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as Tupelo made off with a 34-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Wave since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
