Grand Island Central Catholic had won ten straight home games and Thomas Birch did his part to make it 11 on Thursday. The Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders enjoyed a cozy 54-35 win over the Thayer Central Titans for which the team can thank Birch, who shot 5-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a triple-double with 24 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.9% shooting accuracy.

Thayer Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sam Souerdyke, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tegon Hergott, who posted seven points.

Grand Island Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Thayer Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season.
