Basketball Recap: Pleasanton Comes Up Short

Pleasanton played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars 55-22. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1051st, while the Tigers/Jaguars are ranked 515th).

Floresville found their leader in sophomore Amariah Ruiz, who went 8 for 17 on her way to 22 points. With that strong performance, Ruiz is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Alissa Hilario, who posted seven points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Pleasanton has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Floresville, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-12.

Pleasanton will face off against Uvalde at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Floresville, they will take on Devine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Floresville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
