Baseball Recap: Fort Collins Falls to Chaparral in First Game of Season

Fort Collins unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 14-8 to the Chaparral Wolverines on Tuesday. The Lambkins haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Dylan Rubenstein made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Oliver Stanevich, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Looking ahead, Fort Collins will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairview at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chaparral, they will head out on the road to take on Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cactus Shadows is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
