Baseball Game Preview: Weatherford Kangaroos vs. Saginaw Rough Riders

The Weatherford Kangaroos will head out to square off against the Saginaw Rough Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Saginaw took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Weatherford, who comes in off a win.

Weatherford's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Chisholm Trail as Weatherford made off with an 8-0 victory. The Kangaroos haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Cutter Kennedy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Kennedy was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, Kaden Fleming looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Bryce Smith, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cory Pantoja, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Saginaw's offense. They fell 4-0 to Boyd on Saturday.

The victory got Weatherford back to even at 1-1. As for Saginaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Weatherford took their win against Saginaw in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 by a conclusive 8-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Weatherford since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
