Preview: New Diana Eagles vs. Elysian Fields Yellowjackets
New Diana is 0-7 against Elysian Fields since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The New Diana Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
New Diana never got on the board in their matchup on October 6th, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Hughes Springs two weeks ago. They breezed by the Mustangs at home to the tune of 55-8.
New Diana relied on the efforts of Davy Mapps, who rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and DeJuan Johnson, who rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, Elysian Fields got themselves on the board against Hughes Springs on Friday, but Hughes Springs never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 26-0 win.
Dez Harrison was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Elysian Fields also got a significant boost from Dravian Rather, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 87 yards.
New Diana's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Elysian Fields, their win bumped their record up to 2-7.
