Wauconda proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 18) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Lake Zurich Bears 5-4. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Georgia Reimers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Threde and Ellary Nick did most of the damage at the plate: Threde went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Nick went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most RBI Threde has posted since back in April.

Wauconda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Wauconda's win bumped their record up to 9-22. As for Lake Zurich, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-15-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wauconda beat the Bears by a score of 12-11 later that day.
