Basketball Recap: Pungo Christian Academy Raiders vs. Ridgecroft Rams
The Pungo Christian Academy Raiders have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ridgecroft. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pungo Christian Academy in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Pungo Christian Academy lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Austin Garrish. Despite the final result, he dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garrish has scored all season. Maddox Lee was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridgecroft to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sawyer Chamblee, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bill Vaughan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Pungo Christian Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4. As for Ridgecroft, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Pungo Christian Academy will head out on the road to take on the Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mattamuskeet has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 4. As for Ridgecroft, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Colts at 6:30 p.m. Albemarle School is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
