With a playoff game on the line, Guyer rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the McKinney Lions with a sharp 52-30 victory. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Kevin Sperry, who threw for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes, and also rushed for 100 yards on only 14 carries. 87 of Sperry's passing yards were hauled in by Mason White, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Guyer was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McKinney only rushed for 65.

Guyer didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jonah Shamy and Caleb Fowler. Fowler has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

McKinney's loss came despite strong showings from Khristian Mackintrush and Jeremiah Daoud. Mackintrush picked up 155 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Daoud threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns.

Guyer has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25 points. As for McKinney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Guyer will face off against Pearce at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pearce's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last eight games. McKinney does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
