Basketball Recap: Belfast Comes Up Short

After flying high against Maine Central Institute last Friday, Belfast came back down to earth. The Belfast Lions had to suffer through a 83-23 loss at the hands of the Medomak Valley Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Panthers are ranked sixth).

Belfast's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Medomak Valley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Belfast Lions duke it out with the Waterville Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on January 28th. As for Medomak Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lincoln Academy at 6:30 p.m. Lincoln Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Medomak Valley likes a good challenge.
