Soccer Game Preview: Woodlake vs. Kingsburg

The Woodlake Tigers will take on the Kingsburg Vikings in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodlake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.

Woodlake's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against McFarland by a score of 2-0. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly two goals.

Fernando Bucio and Alejandro Rosales scored both of Woodlake's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Kingsburg fell victim to Mt. Whitney and their airtight defense on Thursday. They fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 748th, while the Pioneers are ranked 245th).

Woodlake's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three matches. As for Kingsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Woodlake beat Kingsburg 2-0 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Will Woodlake repeat their success, or does Kingsburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
