Basketball Game Preview: Desert Ridge Jaguars vs. Highland Hawks

Desert Ridge is 2-8 against Highland since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Desert Ridge Jaguars will host the Highland Hawks at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Desert Ridge is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They were outmatched by Higley and fell 83-27. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Knights are ranked 46th).

Meanwhile, Highland didn't have quite enough to beat Campo Verde on Monday and fell 34-32.

Desert Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Desert Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Highland in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 59-48. Will Desert Ridge repeat their success, or does Highland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
