Basketball Recap: St. Johns Country Day Comes Up Short

St. Johns Country Day's tournament run continued when they took on Whitefield Academy on Tuesday. The Spartans took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the WolfPack. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, St. Johns Country Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kendall Proffitt shot 43% from the field en route to 30 points. That was a full 55.6% of the Spartans' points, marking the fifth time in a row Proffitt has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ashantii Williams, who put up five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.

St. Johns Country Day now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Whitefield Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Looking ahead, St. Johns Country Day will square off against Bishop Snyder at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Whitefield Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Walker at 5:30 p.m. on December 5. The matchup will give the WolfPack their first taste of in-conference action this season.
