Football Recap: Marple Newtown Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Marple Newtown lost against Strath Haven back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fightin' Tigers came up short against the Panthers, falling 35-10. While losing is never fun, the Fightin' Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Panthers are ranked 60th).

Strath Haven got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Yousif Ali out in front who rushed for 121 yards and one score on only 14 carries. Another back making a difference was Ryan Mudrick, who rushed for 123 yards and one touchdown.

This is the second loss in a row for Marple Newtown and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Strath Haven, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Marple Newtown will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Penncrest at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Strath Haven, they are taking a road trip to take on Conestoga at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Pioneers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
