The Lejeune Devil Pups will head out on the road to square off against the Northside - Pinetown Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lejeune is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Lejeune suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Pamlico County 58-20. Lejeune was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-6.
Lejeune's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shyanne Bryant, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and Scarlett McLean who scored six points along with nine steals.
Meanwhile, Northside - Pinetown can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They breezed by Jones at home to the tune of 58-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Northside - Pinetown has posted against Jones since January 8, 2021.
Lejeune bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.3 points per game. As for Northside - Pinetown, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
Lejeune took a serious blow against Northside - Pinetown in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 72-23. Can Lejeune avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
