Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Flagstaff Eagles
The Mesquite Wildcats will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Flagstaff Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Mesquite is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Flagstaff in Arizona (Mesquite is ranked 19th, while Flagstaff is ranked 84th).
Last Tuesday, Mesquite had to suffer through a rough 84-48 loss at the hands of Basha.
Despite the loss, Mesquite saw an underclassman step up: Desean Middlebrook scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Wollangk, who scored 9 points.
Meanwhile, Flagstaff came up short against Saguaro on Tuesday and fell 55-44. Flagstaff has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Their wins bumped Mesquite to 4-2 and Basha to 4-0.
Everything came up roses for Mesquite against Flagstaff in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 106-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mesquite since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
