Basketball Game Preview: Crestview Knights vs. Shawnee Indians

The Crestview Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Shawnee Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Crestview has nine straight victories, Shawnee has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Crestview can't be too worried about heading out to take on Shawnee: they just beat Versailles at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Crestview made off with a 54-53 win over Versailles.

Crestview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Kline, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 24 points and six assists. Kline's afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kaci Gregory was another key player, going 5 for 9 en route to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Shawnee was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 42-37 to Wapakoneta.

Crestview's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Shawnee, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Everything came up roses for Crestview against Shawnee in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 62-22 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crestview since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
