Football Recap: Montgomery Tigers vs. St. Mary Tigers
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Montgomery lost 42-18 to St. Mary. The game marked Montgomery's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Montgomery's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Christian, who rushed for 145 yards and one TD on only nine carries. Christian got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 90 yards. Another pass catcher making a difference was Eli Bullock, who picked up 84 receiving yards and one touchdown.
St. Mary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John Paul Thibodaux led the charge by rushing for 165 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Thibodaux has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Johnson, who threw for 181 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes.
Montgomery now has a losing record of 3-4. As for St. Mary, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
