Basketball Game Preview: Warden Cougars vs. Mabton Vikings

Warden and Mabton are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Warden Cougars just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Mabton Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Warden is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Granger 65-30 on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Mabton entered their tilt with Columbia on Friday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They breezed by the Coyotes to the tune of 65-28. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Mabton pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Warden, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10.

Warden beat Mabton 72-64 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Warden repeat their success, or does Mabton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
