Football Recap: Bellmont Takes a Loss

Bellmont fell victim to DeKalb and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Barons 55-0. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Barons are ranked 59th).

Charlie Faurote threw for 61 yards on 12 of 29 attempts. Mekhi Zeitvogel was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards.

DeKalb got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli McCormick out in front who threw for 138 yards and three TDs. McCormick has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Xavier Vice, who rushed for 85 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

Bellmont's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for DeKalb, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Bellmont didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 60-7 defeat against East Noble on the 17th. As for DeKalb, they have also already played their next matchup, a 31-28 win against Leo on the 17th.
