Basketball Recap: Southern Alamance Takes a Loss

Southern Alamance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They took a blow against the Western Alamance Warriors, falling 88-18. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-12.

When it comes to explaining why Southern Alamance lost, don't look at Sarah Kathryn Maness. Despite the final result, she posted seven points and seven rebounds.

Allie Sykes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Western Alamance, going 11-for-17 from beyond the arc en route to 41 points along with five boards and three steals. That's the most rebounds Sykes has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Johnson, who went 9-for-16 on her way to 23 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Southern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Western Alamance, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-4.

Coming up, Southern Alamance will head out to challenge Eastern Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastern Alamance has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 200 points over their last three contests. Western Alamance does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
