Baseball Recap: Calexico Wins Going Away Against Brawley

Calexico never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past the Brawley Wildcats 6-0. Considering the Bulldogs have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past David Lara, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Brawley off the board. That one hit allowed gave Lara a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Randy Baez was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andree Tapia, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Baez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Calexico kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for Calexico: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.8.

Calexico's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Brawley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Calexico will have a chance to go back-to-back against Brawley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
