Chaparral has gone 9-1 against Desert Mountain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Firebirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolves at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chaparral has three straight victories, Desert Mountain has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Chaparral had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Mountain View on Tuesday. The Firebirds put the hurt on the Mountain Lions with a sharp 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Chaparral took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Desert Mountain came up short against Arizona College Prep on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17.

Chaparral's victory bumped their record up to 25-4. As for Desert Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-19.

Chaparral was able to grind out a solid win over Desert Mountain when the teams last played back in September, winning 2-0. Do the Firebirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
