Basketball Recap: Powdersville's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Powdersville extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Makayla Assemian. The Powdersville Patriots took down the St. Joseph's Catholic Knights 65-51 on Tuesday thanks in part to Assemian, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. Those 29 points gave her a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Bryant, who posted nine points along with seven boards and six assists. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

St. Joseph's Catholic lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tiffany Helmer, who put up 16 points and five assists. Brianna Armocida was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Powdersville has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5.

Powdersville and St. Joseph's Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. Powdersville (ranked 68th) will meet Christ Church Episcopal (ranked 209th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Powdersville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season. Similarly, St. Joseph's Catholic (ranked 96th) will meet Carolina Academy (ranked 241st) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
