Basketball Preview: Wareham Vikings vs. Avon Panthers
Wareham has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Avon Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Avon took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wareham, who comes in off a win.
Wareham scored the most points they've had all season to find success back in January. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rising Tide 55-11 at home. That 44 point margin sets a new team best for Wareham this season.
Meanwhile, Avon lost to the Chieftains on the road by a decisive 43-29 margin on Friday.
Despite their defeat, Avon saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kylie Mallet, who scored ten points, was perhaps the best of all. Hanelie Cadet was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Wareham's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Avon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Wareham strolled past the Panthers in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 51-32. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cadet, who scored 21 points.
