Basketball Recap: Millard South Comes Up Short

After flying high against Norfolk on Friday, Millard South came back down to earth. The Millard South Patriots took a 60-43 bruising from the Bishop Heelan Catholic Crusaders on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Millard South saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aubrey Carder went 5 for 9 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Carder continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbi Durow, who posted 13 points.

Millard South's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Bishop Heelan Catholic, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Millard South and Bishop Heelan Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. Millard South (ranked 24th) will meet Omaha Northwest (ranked 176th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Millard South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Bishop Heelan Catholic will take on Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. on Friday up 124 places (29 vs. 153).
