Basketball Recap: Elysian Fields Takes a Loss

After flying high against Waskom last Friday, Elysian Fields came back down to earth. The Elysian Fields Yellowjackets lost 41-17 to the Beckville Bearcats on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 36-25 back in December of 2024.

Leading Beckville to victory were Ayanna Burroughs and Landrie Dennard. Burroughs went 7 for 11 on her way to 14 points and seven boards, while Dennard went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Burroughs has scored at least a third of Beckville's points. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Mauritzen, who posted four points and three steals.

Elysian Fields dropped their record down to 3-17 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Beckville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-14.

Elysian Fields wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 75-33 defeat against Garrison on the 24th. As for Beckville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-22 loss against Tenaha on the 24th.
